UAV Pilot Jobs

UAV Pilot Jobs cover professional aviation careers operating Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs), Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS), drones and remotely piloted aircraft for commercial, government, defense, industrial and specialist missions.

Professional UAV pilots plan and conduct missions, operate aircraft and payload systems, monitor flight performance, manage communications and ground control equipment, and ensure that operations are conducted safely and in accordance with applicable aviation regulations and procedures.

The range of UAV operations is extensive. Pilots may work in aerial surveying and mapping, infrastructure inspection, construction, energy, agriculture, aerial photography, public safety, surveillance, defense, search and rescue, environmental monitoring, research and development, flight testing and other specialized missions.

Depending on the operation, a UAV pilot may fly manually within visual range or operate sophisticated missions from a ground control station, including operations conducted beyond visual line of sight where authorized. Professional roles can therefore combine traditional pilot skills with mission planning, airspace awareness, technical systems knowledge, sensor and payload operation, data collection and risk management. EASA and FAA frameworks both place significant responsibility on the remote pilot for safe operation, while professional job descriptions increasingly require mission planning, pre-flight inspections, airspace assessment, risk assessment and ground-station operation.
